In February, 2001, we took a drive to Edenton, North Carolina, for a tour of the Carolina Classic factory. Mac Privot, owner and founder of Carolina Classic, spent the better part of three hours showing us in detail how the boats are built. As we were standing there, watching them lay the fiberglass for a 28, we casually looked at the order. To our surprise (and delight) the boat they were building was ours! The pictures below depict the building of the Sara Sea in various stages. |

An arduous process, laying fiberglass is an art. It was amazing to watch these craftsman as they rolled out the glass, applied the resin, smoothed out the air bubbles...all done with incredible rhythm and precision. |

After a month in Edenton, Sara Sea was shipped to Ft. Lauderdale where Sun Power Marine painted the bottom and prepped her for her tower and delivery. |

After an adventurous trip north (see maiden voyage), Sara Sea arrived in her port-o-call, Salt Ponds Marina, Hampton, Virginia. |
