The last dive day of the trip is
always the hardest. But, we ended it with two great sites.
First, we went to Big Tunnels in Grand Cayman. There were many swim
throughs and big tunnels (if you can imagine) and great sea life. We
didn't capture a lot on film on this dive, but we did see a large lobster
handing out on the wall.
Next we went to Devil's Grotto,
just off the shore (we could actually see the Sunset House, where we stayed
when we first arrived in Grand Cayman, from the boat). We went into
the diving thinking it was going to kind of be a throw-away dive...it was
relatively shallow (the deepest we got was 45 feet) and it was really just a
reef. We couldn't have been happier with it. We started off
seeing three turtles in the same spot. We played with them for a while
them moved on to explore a little more. Shortly thereafter we found
some amazing caverns connected by alleys of coral. On the way out of
the last one, we saw two large tarpon. After about 60 minutes, we
contemplated ascending (reluctantly, as you will see in the pictures) until
we saw a spotted eel swimming openly through the reef. It was a great
way to end the dive. We surfaced and began to clean our gear.
Later that evening, the crew
hosted a cocktail party for us on the sun deck so we could say our goodbyes.
The next morning, we headed for the airport with Dick and Lea, two divers
from Orlando who happened to be on our flight.
It truly was an amazing trip.
We are now trying to figure out where we will go next!
