Day One
December 27, 2003:
We boarded MV Sea Fever at about 7:30 a.m., set up our gear, filled out some paperwork and got situated in our room.  We were happy to see a lot of the same crew was on board - Ellie May, Rick, Ed & Captain Red.  There was a different cook this time - Rob - but if today was any indication of what we can expect, I think we are going to be really glad he is here.  So far he has gone three for three for meals.

At around 10 a.m. we pulled out of the slip to begin our trip.  The crossing was rough - really rough.  Scott and I went below in our cabin to sleep, but quite a few got sick - even some of the crew.  But once in Bimini, it was smooth sailing.

Our first dive was at North Turtle Rocks.  It was a reef with a ton of juveniles.  We saw the biggest trumpet fish we have ever seen and a few engines from the shipwreck that once was there.

That night we ventured in the water for a night dive on the wreckage of the Sapona.  Only four of us and one guide went for the dive - it was a little cold outside  and the water temperature was brisk (minimum temp reading was 69).  It was amazing how many rays we saw; they were everywhere!  The colors on the Sapona were brilliant - the reds, oranges, yellow and green coral were really, really bright.  On our way back, we saw a giant Squid - the thing was enormous!

And, when we got back on the boat we crashed.
