On Saturday, we boarded the boat
at around 2:00 p.m. We set up our gear on the starboard side, right
next to the gate. Turns out, we were the only two to do the
giant stride off the side of the boat. Everyone else made their way to
the swim platform (it was nice to have a private entrance). After we set up
our gear, we were shown to our stateroom - very nice accommodations with our
own private shower and head. At around 4:00 p.m. the Captain gave a briefing
about boat operations, general diving guidelines, etc. At 6:00 p.m. we
had dinner and by 7:00 p.m. we were headed out to Little Cayman (about a
seven hour run). Unfortunately, it was a little rougher than we
expected and Sara got a little sick in the middle of the night but she
wasn't alone. By Sunday, although it was a little windy, the seas were
perfect. Our first day of diving (Sunday) was great. The first site was Lea Lea's Lookout on Bloody Bay Wall in Little Cayman. We saw a nurse shark - always a good sign of things to come - and plenty of turtles. The next site was Meadows (also on Bloody Bay Wall in Little Cayman). We saw Parrotfish, barracuda, a spotted eagle ray, grouper, horse-eye jacks and more. All told, it was a fantastic
day of diving. |
