Day Four

December 30, 2003:
Today we did two drift dives (these are some of our favorite kinds of dives).  The first one was at Nodules . This was an amazing wall where we saw three shark and a turtle.  The current was really rippin' so we were able to cover a lot of ground.  We then went back to Blue Chromis and did a drift dive there.  This was another awesome dive - but then again, you can't really go wrong with a drift dive!

The third dive of the day was at The Wedge - a wreckage site.  We saw a ton of fish and a baby nurse shark.  It was a very relaxing afternoon dive.

Then, we were off to Bull Run for the shark feed.  While the visibility wasn't as good as it was in July, the feed itself was amazing!  The feed lasted longer and the sharks were more aggressive.  It was truly awesome.  After the feed, we hung around and played with the nurse sharks, reef sharks and grouper and hunted for shark teeth.  Richard from Alabama gave Sara a shark tooth Jersey Rob had found.  Close to the end of the dive, it was just Dive Master Rick and us so we had some real up close and personal time with the sharks.  Sara was able to pick up a nurse shark and hold it - it was really cool.  And, the reef sharks became a lot more friendly and curious.  It was an incredible dive.

We then moved to Moonglo where we did a twilight dive before dinner. We saw a huge crab and quite a few juveniles.  While we were making our safety stop, a bull shark began to circle us.  It was a pretty awesome sight.

After dinner, Sara and Dive Master Ellie May did a little karaoke (cleared out the salon, pretty quickly) and then did a night dive.  Scott was tired and cold, so he watched the dive deck with Rick.  The first part of the night dive was pretty uneventful.  Carol and Bob pointed out a falling crab but other than that, we didn't see much...as we were making our way back to the boat, the coral patch came alive!  We saw two turtles sleeping (one huge one and one smaller one); crabs feeding themselves; and lobster.  On the mooring line. we turned off our lights and played with the phosphorescent creatures on the line.  It was a great dive.
