On the last day of boat diving,
we went to Punta Sur to dive Devil’s Throat – an overhead environment that
begins at around 80 ft and drops you out at about 130. Everyone we talked
to said that if we were going to Cozumel, we had to dive Punta Sur. This
was definitely one of the better dives of the week (and quite honestly, more
of the kind of diving we thought we would be doing).
After our
two boat dives, we went into town to settle our bill with the dive shop and
take out some money for our Cenote dives on Friday. We thought it was
going to be a quick trip...boy were we wrong! It took close to three
hours for us to take cash out of an ATM!
We did
one last night dive and were fortunate enough to have the boat basically all
to ourselves. We dove with two other people - Will (who was with our
group) and Sam, a diver from Kansas City we dove with several times
throughout the week. We did not take the camera on this dive and
kicked ourselves for it. We saw some of the most amazing creatures.
The highlight of this dive had to be the 2 ft. octopus. We probably
spent a good 10 minutes playing with him. It was by far one of the
most relaxing dives of the week!
