Sammy had a wonderful 1st birthday.  She started the day with her first taste of sugar - a frosting-free cupcake.  As you can see from the pictures below, she was quite taken by the taste!  After a tasty cupcake breakfast, Sammy got dressed up and ready for school (see the video below).  Armed with the cupcakes that she helped Mommy make the night before, Sammy and her Daddy headed off to daycare where she celebrated her birthday in a new room with all of her classmates.  That evening, she came home to a decorated house complete with helium balloons and punch balloons - what more could a little girl ask for!  Aunt Miki, Uncle Tom, Tommy and Kathleen joined us for a delicious birthday dinner of pizza and bread from Vancostas.  Sammy then opened presents and enjoyed an ice cream cake that the Donovans brought.  It was the perfect ending to a perfect day!

The next day Grandma and Poppy arrived from Florida and later that evening we all went to Anna's for a birthday dinner with friends!  After dinner, everyone came back to the house for presents and starfish cake that Mommy made.  By the end of the weekend Sammy was a tired, but very happy, little girl.
